‘LIGHT UP LIGHTHOUSE’ CAMPAIGN NEEDS YOUR HELP

The Lighthouse Arts Collective (LAC), a local not for profit arts organisation based in Point Lonsdale, have just launched the ‘Light Up Lighthouse’ fundraising campaign to keep their unique collective alive. Facing an uncertain future due to lost revenue during the pandemic, the campaign needs to raise $13,000 by December 31.

LAC Chair, Emma Crofts, said The Collective has grown a dedicated following, particularly thanks to its popular live music offerings, however, COVID has decimated its program.

“We’ve hosted 50 unforgettable events, welcoming more than 4000 people through our doors since we began four years ago. We’ve provided paid work for 100 artists in our year-round program of live music, theatre, visual arts, film, and poetry,” she said.

“The loss of almost 24 months of event revenue is a huge setback, but the thought of losing what we have built with our community over the last four years is heart-breaking.”

LAC Creative Director, Suzie Wyllie said they do have plans for 2022 in the works, with some really exciting local collaborations, but the reality is that without a groundswell of community support, delivering their program won’t be possible.

“There’s no denying that the last two years has ripped the belly out of our creative program. The  pandemic quickly dimmed our light, it’s been devastating for our programmed artists and our passionate patrons,” she said.

$13,000 is needed to cover LAC’s basic annual operational costs. These funds are critical in delivering their program and essential in keeping New Hall (as well as our creative studios and artist lead retail space) open to the community well into the future.

More than ever, individual and business donations play a vital role in sustaining LAC through these unprecedented times. Every donation made to the Collective is tax-deductible and directly supports their ability to weather this storm and continue to create artistic experiences that engage our community.

The campaign has been live as of 9AM Friday October 1st. Tax-deductible donations to Light Up Lighthouse can be made at https://www.lighthouseartscollective.com/donate
