Vue Grand’s triple triumph
Caleb Fleet and Jesse Hughes have taken home the top individual awards at this year’s Harwood Andrews Geelong/Otway Golden Plate Awards. Caleb, Food and Beverage Manager at Queenscliff’s Vue Grand hotel, was awarded Most Outstanding Front of House, while Jesse Hughes, Executive Chef, won Best Chef.
“After a twenty year career in hospitality, it’s a huge compliment,” said Caleb. “It was a real honour to be recognised by my peers and some industry greats by getting this award.” Caleb has also been selected as a finalist in the State award for Industry Legend Service to Hospitality
Jesse competed in a cook off for the Garuda Indonesia Best Chef com-petition winning for the third time. “After competing against top level chef’s doing incredible things at their restaurants I felt humbled to win the award,” said Jesse. “It’s great to win individual accolades, but these awards are for the whole team”.
The Vue Grand also received the Highly Commended Award for Best Menu of Local Wines, Beers & Ciders, and won the Golden Plate Award for Best Contemporary Dining.
If you want to take in the award winning hospitality at the Vue Grand the Grand Dining Room is open Wednesday through to Saturday evenings, and the Vue Street Bar is open from 12-8pm Wednesday through to Saturday and 12-3pm Sundays. The Rooftop bar is also open on a Friday and Saturday 4pm until dusk.
